Organisation Overview: Mental ACT Community Services is a non-profit organisation in Singapore dedicated to destigmatising mental health within the South Asian community. We provide affordable, culturally responsive counselling, outreach, and education. Interns gain hands-on experience in client support, community projects, and event planning, developing empathy, cultural awareness, and professional skills in a supportive learning environment.
Brief Description:
This role will assist in developing and implementing community-based mental health and social programmes, including counselling support, case management, advocacy, and outreach initiatives for diverse South Asian communities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in organising programmes like Masculinity Project and Breakfast Club
Coordinate trainings (e.g., MHFA, PFA) and advocacy events
Conduct client/community outreach and resource referrals
Maintain programme data and case documentation
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To apply social work theories and values in real-world community and case work settings
To develop case management, assessment, and communication skills
To gain experience in culturally responsive, trauma-informed practice
To learn to design and evaluate social programmes
To strengthen teamwork and professional ethics in practice
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am to 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
