Organisation Overview: Human-animal bond in Ministry (HIM) is a social enterprise that provides animal-assisted intervention and substance abuse counselling to beneficiaries including inmates, ex-offenders and their families and youth at risk. Our vision is to build a supportive loving community with animals that brings hope and healing to those affected by crime and the marginalised. Our mission is to Rescue and Re-member through Animal-Assisted Intervention and to Regain and Restore dignity through Animal-Related Services and Training.
Brief Description: This position requires interns to provide administration support, pet care, support before, during and after running of animal-assisted activities and sessions. Interns are to also provide research support and any other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Director.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Administrative support, including:
Communication with volunteers, beneficiaries and stakeholders via corporate email or text message (using corporate Whatsapp account) or social media platforms
Attendance at meetings with external organisations, preparation of presentation materials or reports, and recording of meeting minutes
Corporate purchasing of materials necessary for the running of HIM and maintenance of proper receipts for corporate accounts
Administrative handling of sales and sponsorships (including packing, arrangement for transport, etc)
Social media content creation, designing, marketing & postings
Updating or responding of corporate social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, Carousell etc)
Pet care (refer to detailed list), including:
Daily cleaning of animal enclosures (dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig etc)
Daily feeding, grooming & care of animals
Ad-hoc vet visits where required
3. Support before, during and after running of animal-assisted activities and sessions, including:
Liaising and project discussion with volunteers & stakeholders
Preparation of necessary logistics
On-site facilitation of activities and sessions
Volunteer management, including briefing & de-brief
Cleaning up and packing after event
4. Research support, including:
Collection of data
Preparation of research findings
5. Any other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Director
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to those affected by crime (inmates, ex-offenders and their families) and the marginalised
To gain knowledge of the challenges faced by the above beneficiary group and learn ways to help them, including through animal-assisted activities
To apply skills in social media to corporate marketing and communications to raise awareness and support for our social cause
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 7.30am - 4.30pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Flexible, weekend work may be required depending on operational needs. Off-in-lieu will be given.
