Organisation Overview: ARTDIS (Singapore) Ltd formerly known as Very Special Arts Singapore, is a leading non- profit organisation dedicated to creating learning and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities in the arts. Started in 1993 by Ambassador-at-Large, ART:DIS organises art programmes, projects, collaborations, exhibitions and performances for persons with disabilities to reach for excellence and be relevant in the future.
Brief Description: This position is responsible for providing support to the Program team to enable, enrich and empower persons with disabilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Managing volunteers and logistical support for performing arts or visual arts classes, annual productions, exhibitions, and commissions
Administrative work for performing arts classes such as coordinating with teachers on class matters, marking attendance, collection of fees and updating info into the system
Other related work, such as publicity and marketing for productions
Support with other general and programme-related administrative and logistics duties
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Collaborative practices across disciplines and sectors, understanding and appreciation of the vibrant arts & disability landscape
Diversity awareness and management - build a strong skillset in interpersonal relationship skills with people, with or without disabilities
Social Service Programme Development - transferable skills which will be honed through designing several iterations of programmes for beneficiaries, such as pedagogy-driven classes, productions, exhibitions, etc
Marketing & Public Relations - gaining sensitivity to differing audience and growing an acute understanding of social media marketing and relationship management
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: Tues-Sun, 9.30am - 6.30pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Regular weekend work as part of normal schedule. Interns will be required to work one weekend (Sat or Sun), with Monday off. (5-day work week)
Requirements (if any):
Demonstrate a track record of arts education (such as involvement in a performing arts/visual arts CCA/programmes in school), or show an appreciation of performing art forms (dance, music, theatre) or visual art forms (e.g. clay, oil painting, digital art, etc
Have good communication skills (not limited to written and spoken language - sign language is a useful communication method)
Have experience in video editing and graphic design is an advantage
Have experience working with people with disabilities
Be caring, open-minded, and willing to go the extra mile
