Organisation Overview: New Hope Community Services (New Hope CS) is a social service agency working to bring change into the lives of the displaced and disadvantaged in the community. We provide a range of services and programmes such as temporary shelter, casework, mentoring, job-matching, life-skills training and support with long-term housing and employment. We are a full member of the National Council of Social Service since 2005 and have been granted Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) status until 2026.

Brief Description: Support JSS-OR operations and community programmes through client engagement, conducting client interviews, assisting tenants to apply for financial and social support, supporting dispute management, unit inspections, and helping facilitate community activities under the guidance of Programme Lead and Social Workers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Support client engagement and day-to-day frontline operations

  2. Assist with client interviews and applications for support schemes (under supervision)

  3. Support dispute management and mediation processes

  4. Conduct unit inspections and follow up on tenancy issues

  5. Assist in planning, running, and evaluating community programmes

  6. Update records, reports, and documentation

  7. Participate in outreach, events, and stakeholder engagement as required

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  1. To be exposed to low-income community development work

  2. To be able to apply engagement and communication skills with diverse tenant profiles

  3. To learn how to conduct client interviews and support needs assessments

  4. To participate in programme planning, implementation, and evaluation

  5. To learn how to manage complaints and support basic dispute resolution

  6. To gain knowledge in tenancy management, unit inspections, and community operations

Duration of Internship: 6 months

Daily Working Hours: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: 9am-6pm Wed: 9am - 9am (open after office hours to engage clients who work)

Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
