Organisation Overview: Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's Home provides temporary shelter, care, and protection to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 21 years old who come from needy and disadvantaged families in Singapore. Our Home is one of the biggest children's homes in Singapore. There are usually 70 - 90 boys and girls living in the Children's Home and every year, 20 - 30 children are admitted or discharged back into their families or community.
Brief Description: The intern will support the fundraising and volunteer engagement efforts through research, outreach, data management, and content creation. They will also assist in programme logistics, sponsorship development, and basic administrative duties. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to learn how donor relations, volunteer coordination, and community programmes work together to strengthen organisational impact.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Support
Research and compile leads and email contacts for foundations and potential partners.
Send donor welcome decks using information provided by the team.
Reach out to potential sponsors for charity golf events.
Provide logistical support for charity golf activities.
Assist with data entry for meal sponsorships.
Update and tidy donor email information in the CRM.
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
Set up volunteer recruitment campaigns on Giving.sg.
Draft and design simple EDMs for volunteer outreach.
Input volunteer records into the CRM monthly.
Record volunteer screening results and pre-register volunteers in Cyberland.
Maintain and update volunteer tracking sheets.
Programme Support
Assist during on-site programmes when required (e.g., logistics, photography).
Gather simple feedback from residents after activities.
Prepare necessary programme materials such as checklists and sign-in sheets.
Partnership & Sponsorship Development
Research potential companies suitable for programme sponsorship.
Prepare basic pitch materials and information decks.
Compile and update contact lists.
Marketing & Content Creation
Research industry trends and share insights with the team.
Assist in planning, drafting, and scheduling social media content.
Support the writing of captions, posts, and articles for various platforms.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
Gain practical experience in fundraising research, donor engagement, and partnership development.
Build confidence in data management through hands-on use of CRM tools.
Strengthen communication skills by drafting EDMs, content pieces, and outreach messages.
Develop basic creative skills using Canva and other design tools to support campaigns.
Learn how community programmes are planned, executed, and evaluated.
Enhance organisational skills by handling multiple tasks and supporting events.
Cultivate professional independence, responsibility, and an eye for detail.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon - Tue & Thur - 12:30pm - 9.30pm, Wed & Fri , 9:00am - 6:00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Canva
Basic design skills (e.g., simple posters, EDM layouts, social media visuals)
Good attention to detail for data entry and admin tasks
Comfortable drafting short messages/EDMs
Able to work independently and complete tasks on time
Organised and able to manage multiple small tasks at once
Given that Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's Home is an MSF Gazetted Place of Safety for Children, All interns are required to undergo MSF screening 1 month in advance prior to internship commencement. The age of the Interns must be above 18 years old as per the MSF regulations.
