Organisation Overview: Nature Society Singapore is a non-profit organisation that inspires and enables people to take action towards a sustainable and biodiverse planet through engagement, education, advocacy and research. NSS remains steadfast in its goal to conserve biodiversity and habitats in partnership with agencies, peers and corporates in Singapore. Our work has made significant impact in Singapore, and NSS has been consulted by several public agencies for developments and conservation initiatives.
Brief Description: We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Outreach Intern to join our team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in outreach strategies and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong communication skills and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Outreach Planning and Coordination
Assist in developing outreach strategies to engage the community
Collaborate with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organizational goals
Support the execution of outreach initiatives, including occasional weekend activities
Represent the organisation at outreach events
Content Development and Communications
Develop and deploy engaging outreach and publicity materials
Assist in writing articles for the website/newsletter/magazine
Research and Administration
Conduct research on target demographics, community needs, and engagement opportunities to inform outreach strategies
Maintain outreach databases and track outreach activities and outcomes
Provide administrative support for outreach programs and events
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
1. To be exposed to local biodiversity, environmental and nature conservation issues in Singapore
2. To become an effective team player as well as independent and resourceful self-starter
3. To learn how to apply communications, design and writing skills
4. To gain knowledge about Singapore's amazing flora and fauna and how to protect their natural habitats
5. To have the opportunity to engage in community-facing work
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
