Organisation Overview: Project X is the only non-profit organisation in Singapore providing social, emotional and health services to people in the sex industry.
Brief Description: The Communications Intern supports our public education and advocacy work by creating content, engaging our platforms, conducting desk research, and working with volunteers. The role also includes report writing and shared duties such as casework, hotline support, research transcription, and admin tasks.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Communications & Advocacy
Content creation for our socials (FB, IG, Twitter, newsletter, locanto) in accordance with our brand guidelines and the needs of the community
Creating engagement on our platforms and various communication channels (social media + whatsapp, telegram)
Conducting desk research for various research projects and/or public awareness posts
Working together with a team of volunteers to assist with the research and content creation
Monthly reporting / Annual Report writing
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to public education strategies and messaging on sex workers’ rights across multiple platforms
To be able to create concise, brand-aligned content for social media, newsletters, and campaigns
To apply desk research skills to develop accurate and relevant communications materials
To participate in collaborative content development with volunteers and support task coordination
To learn how to implement and evaluate strategies for digital engagement across various communication channels
To gain knowledge in monitoring communication performance and contributing to internal and external reporting
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 1:00pm - 9:00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Strong written and verbal English skills
Familiar with social media and messaging platforms
Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva)
Able to conduct and summarise desk research
Detail-oriented and able to follow brand guidelines
Organised and self-motivated
Comfortable working in teams, including with volunteers
Interest in human rights and social justice
Respectful and sensitive to sex work, gender, and sexuality issues
Experience in content creation or advocacy (preferred but not required)
