Brief Description:
AGAM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Arts Administration Intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of a theatre company and contribute to its daily operations. The intern will work closely with various staff members and gain exposure to different facets of arts management.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
Provide general office support, including filing, photocopying, data entry, and managing correspondence.
Maintain and update databases for donors, members, mailing lists, and other stakeholders.
Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and coordinating logistics.
Respond to phone and email inquiries from the public and stakeholders in a professional manner.
Prepare and format documents, presentations, and reports.
Development and Fundraising Support:
Assist with donor acknowledgement processes and database management.
Support grant research and the preparation of grant applications.
Provide assistance with the planning and execution of fundraising events.
Help with membership recruitment and renewal processes.
Programme and Production Support
Provide on-site support for performances, exhibitions, and educational programmes.
Assist with artist liaison and logistical arrangements.
Support ticketing and box office operations.
Help with volunteer coordination and management.
Provide support for venue management and logistics.
General Tasks and Projects:
Attend staff meetings and contribute to discussions.
Assist with special projects as assigned by various departments.
Maintain a professional and collaborative working relationship with all staff members
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Through this internship, the Arts Administration Intern will:
Gain a broad understanding of the administrative and operational functions of an arts organization.
Develop practical skills in office management, database management, and communication.
Learn about marketing and communication strategies in the arts sector.
Gain insight into fundraising and development practices for non-profit organizations.
Understand the logistical aspects of programme and exhibition management (if applicable).
Enhance organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Develop professional communication and interpersonal skills.
Build a network within the arts community.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Currently enrolled in or a recent diploma/degree program in Arts Administration, Arts Management, Museum Studies, Theatre, Music, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a strong interest in the arts.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
