Organisation Overview: Established in 1981, Care Corner is a non-profit committed to building hope and promoting well-being for those in need. With 46 service points across Singapore, we support children with special learning needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds, youths at risk, troubled families, vulnerable seniors, and individuals needing counselling or mental health assistance. Rooted in the community, we provide holistic care across life stages and major transitions.
Brief Description: The Social Work Programme Intern supports the planning, delivery, and evaluation of youth mental health outreach and group-based programmes. The intern will assist with engagement, facilitation, logistics coordination, and postprogramme administrative tasks.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Programme & Outreach Support
Support staff in the planning, preparation and execution of outreach and engagement activities conducted
Assist in small-group or station-based facilitation, co-leading simple mental health learning activities or reflective discussions.
Support actual-day set up, logistics, venue readiness, and flow management.
Programme Design & Evaluation
Assist staff in refining programme materials, worksheets, reflection questions, or engagement activity concepts.
Support the collection and consolidation of participant feedback or evaluation data.
Contribute to post-programme debrief discussions, offering observations and reflective input from an intern perspective.
Administrative & Coordination Support
Assist with logistics procurement, inventory tracking, and packing of programme materials.
Support in tasks (not limited by) printing materials, attendance-taking, and follow-up communications with staff where needed.
Professional Practice
Maintain confidentiality of client, youth, and stakeholder information at all times.
Use respectful, strengths-based, non-judgmental language when interacting with youths and partners
Uphold clear professional boundaries, including not forming dual relationships or engaging in inappropriate personal disclosures.
Actively practice self-awareness and reflection, seeking supervision when unsure or emotionally impacted.
Demonstrate reliability and accountability (punctuality, meeting commitments, communicating if unable to attend, etc.).
Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members, volunteers, youths, and stakeholders.
Follow safeguarding protocols when encountering disclosures of risk, distress, or harm—immediately escalating to staff.
Seek feedback and learning opportunities, showing willingness to grow in facilitation and youth engagement skills.
Represent the organisation professionally in both on-site and online interactions, communications, and public presence.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Demonstrate skills in planning, preparing, and facilitating youth programmes and outreach activities.
Apply knowledge in designing programme materials and evaluating participant feedback to improve activities.
Develop competence in managing logistics, administrative tasks, and programme coordination.
Familiarise yourself with professional and ethical practice, including confidentiality, safeguarding, and respectful engagement with youths and stakeholders.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am to 6pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
