Organisation Overview: Vox Camerata Ltd is a centre of advocacy, discovery, learning and practice for the arts and community building in Singapore. We use music and the performing arts to bring people and communities together. We began as a registered society in 2005, and recently became an arts non-profit company limited by guarantee in December 2022.

Brief Description: This role supports Vox Camerata's community choral programmes by providing piano accompaniment, vocal assistance, and music coordination for interfaith/intercultural events, engaging 20+ singers and beneficiaries.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Accompany rehearsals and performances on piano (Grade 8 minimum required)

  2. Lead vocal warm-ups, sectionals, and sing in ensemble to model participation

  3. Coordinate music logistics (scores, rehearsal spaces) for 6+ community events

  4. Assist programme delivery, including repertoire preparation and feedback collection

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  1. To remember choral repertoire and techniques (e.g., 10+ pieces for community events) by accurately sight-reading and playing them in first-month rehearsals

  2. To understand group dynamics in choir settings by observing and noting vocal blend improvements across 8 sessions, targeting 80% participant satisfaction via quick polls

  3. To apply piano accompaniment and singing skills by leading warm-ups for 4 rehearsals weekly, supporting 20+ singers in 6 community events

  4. To analyze rehearsal effectiveness by reviewing audio feedback from 3 sessions, producing a mid-term report with 2-3 refinements for better ensemble cohesion

  5. To create customized sheet music arrangements or rehearsal plans for 2 intercultural performances, debuted by internship end with stakeholder approval

Duration of Internship: 6 months

Daily Working Hours: Tue-Fri, 1.30pm to 9.00pm, Sat, 12.00pm to 7.00pm

Will this internship require weekend work?: Regular weekend work as part of normal schedule

Requirements (if any): Youth 17-25 from IHLs; Grade 8 Piano (ABRSM/equivalent); choral singing experience; passion for community music; basic notation software familiarity.
