Organisation Overview: TriGen is a charity with a simple vision: every older person should experience the love and care of a family. Through intergenerational programmes, youths are mentored by healthcare professionals and trained in healthcare and leadership skills. They support seniors through sustained engagement, providing health coaching and companionship - growing in empathy and purpose, while seniors regain confidence, dignity, and joy.
Brief Description: As a Volunteer Management Intern at TriGen@SGH, you’ll support the recruitment, training, and engagement of youth and healthcare volunteers. Interns will maintain a comprehensive overview of TriGen's volunteering initiatives, ensuring that volunteers are properly trained and remain on task. Additionally, they will help plan various events throughout the volunteering programme.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop and refine volunteer recruitment and training materials to support effective onboarding
Design engaging, programme-specific training resources that equip volunteers with the skills and confidence to contribute meaningfully
Plan and implement volunteer engagement initiatives to recognise contributions, strengthen community, and support retention
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Gain exposure to community programmes addressing the medical and social needs of older adults
Develop an understanding of youth volunteer motivations and learn to support their needs effectively
Build skills in guiding and mentoring youth volunteers within a structured programme setting
Participate in and support the delivery of volunteer training sessions
Develop foundational knowledge and practical skills in volunteer management
Gain hands-on experience in planning and executing volunteer engagement events
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours:
Mon - Thu, 8.30am - 6.00pm
Fri, 8.30am - 5.30pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
As TriGen is an organisation formed largely by volunteers, there will be meetings which will occur on weekday nights and/or weekends. If you are required to attend these meetings beyond working hours, you will be able to claim time-off and off-in lieu accordingly.
Students in Polytechnic and University who are fulfilling school internship requirements that span at least 5 to 6 months may apply. Pre-university (Post 'A Levels' etc) students who are waiting for their results or matriculation can also apply.
