Organisation Overview: RiverLife Community Services (RCS) is a non-profit in northeast Singapore, registered with NCSS and recognised as an Institution of Public Character. It is also a Family Life Ambassador with MSF. RCS empowers low-income families with young children to thrive and build stronger communities through programmes for children, youths, and mothers, fostering growth, strengthening bonds, and creating meaningful shared family experiences.
Brief Description: This position provides interns with experience and exposure in working with low-income families, children and youths. Interns would be supporting staff in planning and running programmes, managing volunteers, and conducting evaluations and needs assessments to improve programme effectiveness. Interns would also gain basic social work skills through training and supervision while working with diverse clients, including children, youths and families.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Assist staff in administrative, planning of programme curriculum, sessions and events
2. Assist staff in executing the character development sessions, sessions and/or workshops
3. Assist staff in volunteer management and training needs
4. Facilitate and lead sessions for programme on a needs-basis
5. Planning and executing of adhoc events such as holiday programmes, graduation
6. Conduct and consolidate evaluation for the enhancement of programme needs
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
1. To be exposed to working with low-income families and children in the Social Services Sector through opportunities provided in clinical and programme settings
2. To be able to experience execution and facilitation of programmes through supporting children, youths and family workshops/sessions
3. To apply learnt social work knowledge through observation, planning and execution of the programmes
4. To learn how to plan age-appropriate curriculum and engage with clients of different age group through trainings and supervision
5. To gain knowledge in working with low-income families and clients of different ages through exposure and shadowing staff
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?:
Regular weekend work as part of normal schedule
