Organisation Overview: Be Kind SG, a volunteer-led group, founded in 2017, envisions a kind society for all. Our mission is to foster a kind and inclusive society for persons with disabilities, including intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Through our work, we support the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
Brief Description: This position is responsible for developing, planning, running and marketing of programmes, community projects and supporting other related activities/meetings organized by Be Kind SG.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the development and execution of programs like Play.Able, Seeds, and Be A Special Friend, creating inclusive play spaces and activities, empowering youth independence, and building meaningful connections with vulnerable residents in welfare homes
Collect, analyze, and transform program data into impactful stories showcasing program success
Ensure efficient data management and administrative support for program operations
Craft engaging social media content to build a vibrant online community of kindness champions
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To develop a comprehensive understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by Be Kind SG's beneficiaries
To gain knowledge in the social service sector, especially pertaining to special needs
To be able to effectively engage with beneficiaries and volunteers
To learn how to ensure program activities are inclusive and accessible
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm, 1-2 Half-day Sat
Will this internship require weekend work?: Flexible - weekend work may be required depending on operational needs
Requirements (if any):
Be flexible to programming needs, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, and be available to work on weekends as required
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with diverse individuals and groups in a culturally sensitive manner
Possess strong active listening skills, empathy, and the ability to facilitate discussions effectively
Be a keen learner, able to adapt to a dynamic learning environment, and demonstrate a genuine passion for promoting kindness and building a more inclusive community
Be organized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively
