Organisation Overview: St Hilda’s Community Services Centre (SHCSC) was registered with the Registrar of Societies and the Charities Act in 2001. We are a VWO, a social service arm of the St Hilda’s Church. SHCSC has worked in the Tanjong Rhu/Old Airport community for more than 24 years, serving 20 blocks of HDB flats. Our services include; Active Ageing, Senior Day Care, Day Rehab , PWID, Home Personal Care and Medical Services Transport with Social, Nursing and Care Teams to care and support the community.
Brief Description: The intern will provide support to conceptualise, organise, promote, and execute events whilst participating in programmes and festivals designed for the elderly and residents in the community. They will facilitate and conduct daily activities at the centres, overseeing external providers and volunteers to ensure smooth programme delivery.
The intern will be responsible for collating data and statistics for reporting purposes to relevant agencies, ensuring accurate documentation of programme outcomes and participant engagement. They will also prepare activity materials, bulletins, and promotional flyers to support programme marketing and communication efforts.
Additionally, the intern will conduct regular needs assessments to identify emerging trends and requirements for elderly participants, contributing to the continuous improvement of community programmes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in overseeing the preparation and managing of the Centre Programs and Activities, in conjunction with other staff for group and person centered approaches
2. Manage and evaluate Quality Improvement (QI) projects / program in the aspects of psychosocial, overall care etc
3. Conceptualize, organize, schedule, promote programs for the elderly
4. Logistics setup for the running of activities on daily basis
5. Facilitate or conduct daily activities for the elderly
6. Participants’ attendance during the activities session
7. Monitor the safety of the participants and assist the instructor, if any, during the session
8. Track transactions arising from the programs
9. Preparation of activities materials and bulletins
10. Collation of data and statistics for reporting
11. Walk in enquiries, phone call, and grocery ration distribution onsite/delivery to clients’ place
12. Wheel angels whenever the need arise, for residents to and fro home and Centre for activities
13. Sterilize and clean therapy equipment for infection control
14. Observe, monitor and record clients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight
15. Communicate with clients, relatives and carers
16. Follow up some casework and home visits where necessary
17. Any other duties as may be assigned

1. To be exposed to serving the elderly and vulnerable in the community
2. To be able to conceptualize, organize and execute events and programs for the elderly
3. To apply communication skills to the elderly
4. To learn how to organise and participate in festival and community events
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Flexible - weekend work may be required depending on operational needs
