Organisation Overview: New Life Stories is a social service agency that supports children and families affected by parental incarceration, with the mission of breaking the intergenerational cycle of incarceration through strong relationships, child resilience, and community support. NLS serves children aged 0–17 and their caregivers, especially mothers who are or have been incarcerated. Its programmes focus on creating safe, stable, and nurturing environments that support children’s development and well-being.
Brief Description: Support the BEE team in digital data migration, volunteer records management, and programme impact tracking. The intern will help ensure accurate tracking of befriender engagement, clean and organise data, and contribute to assessing whether programmes are achieving intended outcomes for children from incarcerated families.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support digital migration and structuring of befriender data to ensure consistency and accessibility for reporting
Clean, validate, and track volunteer hours, attendance, and onboarding records for accurate reporting and compliance
Maintain up-to-date documentation of befriender-child matching to support programme monitoring and accountability
Assist in generating periodic reports and dashboards to track volunteer engagement and participation trends
Support analysis of programme data to assess outcomes, identify gaps, and inform continuous improvement
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to data management practices within a social service and volunteer management context
To be able to organise, clean, and maintain datasets to support accurate reporting and compliance
To apply data tracking methods for volunteer engagement, attendance, and programme monitoring
To participate in the preparation of reports and dashboards for internal and funding purposes
To learn how programme data is used to assess outcomes, identify gaps, and support improvements
To gain knowledge of how data supports service delivery for children and families from vulnerable backgrounds
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 10.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
Detail-oriented and organised
Comfortable handling data with confidentiality
Interest in social impact and community work
