Organisation Overview: Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's Home provides temporary shelter, care, and protection to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 21 years old who come from needy and disadvantaged families in Singapore. Our Home is one of the biggest children's homes in Singapore. There are usually 70- 90 boys and girls living in the Children's Home and every year, 20 - 30 children are admitted or discharged back into their families or community.
Brief Description: The internship offers hands-on experience in planning and executing community-based events and programmes. The intern will support event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and programme logistics, while gaining exposure to fundraising campaigns, volunteer management, and partnership development. Through this role, the intern will learn how events are conceptualised, organised, and delivered, while working with internal teams, external partners, and volunteers to create meaningful community impact.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Coordination
Assist in planning and executing community programmes and events (e.g. charity golf, engagement activities)
Prepare and manage event materials, including programme flows, checklists, and registration documents where required
Support on-site event coordination, logistics, and crowd management
Liaise with internal teams, vendors, and volunteers to ensure smooth execution
Stakeholder & Volunteer Management
Support volunteer recruitment and coordination for events
Contribute ideas for improving volunteer engagement and event participation
Assist in briefing and managing volunteers during programme
Sponsorship & Partnerships
Research and identify potential event sponsors and partners
Assist in preparing sponsorship decks and proposals
Support outreach efforts for event collaborations
Event Operations & Admin
Maintain event databases, attendance records, and CRM updates
Track event participation and assist in post-event reporting
Support logistical coordination such as scheduling and resource planning
Marketing & Event Promotion
Assist in planning and creating content to promote events
Draft social media posts and event-related communications
Support simple design work (e.g. event posters, EDMs)
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Gain hands-on experience in event planning, coordination, and execution
Understand how to manage event logistics, timelines, and operations
Develop skills in stakeholder management, including sponsors, vendors, and volunteers
Learn how events support fundraising and community engagement
Build confidence in communication, coordination, and problem-solving in live settings
Develop basic skills in event marketing and promotions
Gain exposure to real-world event environments, including community and non-profit settings
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours:
Mon, Tue, Thu, 12.30pm - 9.30pm
Wed and Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: No weekend work required
Requirements (if any):
Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Canva
Basic design skills (e.g., simple posters, EDM layouts, social media visuals)
Good attention to detail for data entry and admin tasks
Comfortable drafting short messages/EDMs
Able to work independently and complete tasks on time
Organised and able to manage multiple small tasks at once
