Organisation Overview: The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympics type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness ,demonstrate courage , experience joy and participate in a sharing of gfits , skills and friendship with their families other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

We organised opportunities for 9 sports well as organise 5 intiatives.

Brief Description: This role will work with the Volunteer Manager to update athletes and volunteer database, track athlete progress, maintain inventory, update volunteers and athletes on training sessions, oversee outreach programme for a particular sport and assist in planning of events and activities run by the organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Update records of athletes and volunteers

  2. Manage and maintain the sports inventory

  3. Liaise with parents and volunteers

  4. Assist in the planning of events

  5. Prepare resources for Sports Executives

  6. Oversee the smooth running of a particular sport

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  1. To apply computer skills in updating data, creating forms etc

  2. To be exposed to interacting with key stakeholders eg parents and volunteers

  3. To work in a team

  4. To participate in discussions as a team

  5. To be able to problem solve

  6. To gain knowledge in the mission and vision of Special Olympics

  7. To understand how Special Olympics fits in the Sports Ecosytem of Singapore

Duration of Internship: 6 months

Daily Working Hours: Mon - Thu 9am -6pm Fri 9am - 5.30pm. Time in lieu given for work on weekends

Will this internship require weekend work?: Regular weekend work as part of normal schedule
