Organisation Overview: Formed in 1973 as the national sports body for persons with disabilities, the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) is a charity that delivers community, developmental and high performance initiatives to build a vibrant and inclusive community where persons with disabilities can pursue their sporting aspirations.
Brief Description: This position is responsible for supporting the Sports Pathway and Performance team to support the development and implementation of athlete performance programs within a multidisciplinary team for our para-athletes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To assist the team and work with partners to deliver athlete performance initiatives
To facilitate and provide support at the athletes’ trainings and events when necessary
To provide support in the planning and operations of trainings and competitions
To assist in writing reports and proposals, as well as provide suggestions for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve effectiveness
Assist to process payment and claims and other administrative matters
To carry out other adhoc duties assigned by the Pathway and Performance Managers and Directors
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Gain knowledge and experience in areas such as performance interventions and athlete planning to understand how they influence athletic performance and motivate athletes to achieve their performance goals
Gain understanding of how athletes’ daily training environment (DTE) is created and maintained.
Understand the athletes’ journey from Pathway to Performance level in Para sports
Gain hands-on experience in assisting with training sessions, including planning, setting up equipment, running drills and providing feedback
Gain knowledge and enhance problem solving skills by addressing real challenges in sports performance and development
Understand the ethical considerations and professional standards required in sports performance roles
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours:
Mon-Thu, 9am to 6pm
Fri, 9am to 5.30pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
