Organisation Overview: Buds Theatre is a not for profit theatre company, gaining recognition and respect across the region as an incubator for aspiring young artists and practitioners of excellence. To date Buds Theatre have produced a broad range of community initiatives including a partnership with ACM 2024/5 and the SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute 2025 & our on-going programme HEADSs with KKH. Buds is the producer of the largest Youth Theatre Festival in SEA, engaging over 1.5million youths todate.

Brief Description: Stage Manager for the Asian Youth Theatre Festival 2026 and Open Stage - a bi-weekly open mic programme run via Facebook live. Experience in stage management for the theatre is helpful but not necessary. Looking for an organised individual who enjoys making lists, chasing deadlines and the thrill of working in events. Ability to use Microsoft Excel is a bonus.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Source and mange artists for bi-weekly Open Stage

  2. Stage Manager for the Asian Youth Theatre Festival 2026 - hosted live in Siem Reap, Cambodia and online via Zoom

  3. Liaise with artists to ensure a smooth experience prior and during the festival.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  1. To be exposed to the Asian Youth Theatre Festival and it's wider movement

  2. To be able to work with artists both locally and across the region

  3. To apply management skills to practical tasks.

  4. To participate in seeing a hybrid international arts event - the Asian Youth Theatre Festival, to fruition.

  5. To learn how to Stage Manage a hybrid festival (live and online).

  6. To gain knowledge in theatre, management and artistic practices in the region.

Duration of Internship: 5 months

Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 10am to 5.30pm

Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
