Organisation Overview: Project X is the only non-profit organisation in Singapore providing social, emotional and health services to people in the sex industry
Brief Description: The Programmes Intern supports our Sexual Health Outreach Programme by maintaining the drop-in centre, welcoming visitors, providing sexual health information, and doing outreach in red-light districts. The role also includes engaging adult service providers respectfully, addressing myths, supporting data collection, and assisting with monthly KPI reports.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Maintenance of drop in centre and logistics for days you have office duty
Welcoming visitors and helping to address their needs
Sexual health communication - encouraging folks to get tested, myth busting of misconceptions, and addressing their concerns
Physical outreach to various red-light districts
Assist in preparing monthly reports of KPIs
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to human rights principles and how they apply to sex workers, including rights to health, safety, and dignity
To be able to communicate accurate and respectful sexual health information, and address common myths and concerns
To apply outreach and engagement strategies when interacting with sex workers in red-light districts
To participate in data collection and assist in preparing monthly reports on outreach activities and key indicators
To learn how to build trust with marginalised communities through respectful, non-judgemental communication
To gain knowledge in basic community organising and supporting peer-led efforts to reduce stigma and promote rights
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 1.00pm - 9.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfortable engaging with people in person, including in red-light districts
Interest in sexual health, community work, and social justice
Respectful, non-judgemental, and culturally sensitive
Organised and reliable in managing responsibilities
Basic data entry or reporting skills (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets)
Fluency in English; other local languages/dialects an advantage
Previous outreach or volunteer experience (preferred, not required)
