Organisation Overview: Singapore Children’s Society protects and nurtures children and youth of all races and religions. In 2025, the Society reached out to 22,333 children, youth and families in need. Established in 1952, its services have evolved to meet the changing needs of children.
Today, Children’s Society operates more than 10 service centres islandwide, offering services in the four categories of: Vulnerable Children and Youth, Children and Youth Services, Family Services, and Research and Advocacy.
Brief Description: The Research Intern supports research, advocacy, and public education initiatives on child-related issues such as abuse prevention, mental well-being, and positive parenting. Assists in research projects, analysis, and writing, while supporting event organisation for internal and external stakeholders in a social service setting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in research projects related to child abuse prevention, child participation, mental well-being, and positive parenting.
Conduct literature reviews, data collection, and basic analysis to support research and advocacy work.
Support the preparation of research reports, briefs, and public education materials.
Contribute to advocacy initiatives and awareness efforts in a social service setting.
Assist in organising and coordinating events for internal staff and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with team members on ongoing projects and departmental activities.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to research and advocacy work within a social service setting focusing on children, youth, and families.
To be able to conduct literature reviews, data collection, and basic analysis for research projects.
To apply analytical and writing skills in preparing research reports and public education materials.
To participate in advocacy initiatives and events for internal and external stakeholders.
To learn how to translate research findings into meaningful insights for programmes and outreach.
To gain knowledge in key issues such as child abuse prevention, mental well-being, and positive parenting.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 8.30am – 5.30pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
