Organisation Overview: Bethesda CARE Centre (BCARE) was established in 1996 as a social service agency dedicated to serving the community. Our vision is to foster communities of care through bridging gaps and building lives in our neighbourhood. We reach out to children, youths, families, seniors and persons with mental health conditions. Our efforts are dedicated to aiding the poor, marginalised and vulnerable individuals. We also aim to enhance the lives of individuals through engaging and meaningful activities.
Brief Description: FAME Club is a Psychiatric Day Rehabilitation Centre that supports individuals with mental health conditions on their recovery journey through meaningful, person-centred engagements. By offering creative arts, games, life skills training, and community-based activities, FAME Club fosters self-confidence, social connection, and a sense of purpose.
Interns will be involved in planning, facilitating, and engaging beneficiaries in therapeutic and psychosocial programmes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and coordinating daily rehabilitation programmes
Facilitate group activities, therapeutic workshops, and psychoeducation sessions under supervision
Support delivery of curriculum-based sessions for clients
Prepare training and programme materials
Accompany staff on home visits
Provide administrative support
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
1. Develop interpersonal and communication skills in engaging persons with mental health conditions
2. Gain foundational knowledge of various mental health conditions and recovery models
3. Acquire practical experience in programme planning and implementation
4. Participate in facilitating mental health-related activities and workshops
5. Gain exposure to other aspects of social work practice within the organisation
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: No weekend work required
Requirements (if any):
Interest in working with individuals living with mental health conditions
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Responsible, proactive, and able to work both independently and in a team
