Organisation Overview: Bethesda CARE Centre (BCARE) was established in 1996 as a social service agency dedicated to serving the community. Our vision is to foster communities of care through bridging gaps and building lives in our neighbourhood. We reach out to children, youths, families, seniors and persons with mental health conditions. Our efforts are dedicated to aiding the poor, marginalised and vulnerable individuals. We also aim to enhance the lives of individuals through engaging and meaningful activities.
Brief Description: BCARE Active Ageing Centre serves as a drop-in space where seniors can gather and interact with their peers. Interns will assist in the day-to-day operations of the centre, including the planning, preparation, and facilitation of programmes for seniors. They may also be involved in home visitations and community outreach efforts. In addition, interns will provide administrative assistance and have opportunities to contribute ideas for new activities or improvements to existing programmes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning programme and activities
Facilitate programme and workshops for seniors
Prepare training and programme materials
Participate in home visitations with staff
Provide general administrative support
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Develop effective communication skills when engaging with the elderly
Gain insights into the concerns and challenges faced by seniors
Learn the fundamentals of programme planning and coordination
Acquire hands-on experience in conducting senior-focused programmes and activities
Understand the operations and objectives of an Active Ageing Centre
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: No weekend work required
Requirements (if any):
Passion for working with the elderly
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Responsible, proactive, and able to work both independently and in a team
