Organisation Overview: Nature Society Singapore is a non-profit, non-government organisation that inspires and enables people to take action towards a sustainable and biodiverse planet through engagement, education, advocacy and research. For more than 70 years, we remain steadfast in our goal to conserve biodiversity and habitats by reconnecting people to nature, restoring habitats and conserving remaining blue and green spaces in partnership with government agencies, corporates, other NGOs and the wider community.
Brief Description: We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Outreach Intern to join our team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in outreach strategies and community engagement. The ideal candidate should be a motivated self-starter with strong communication skills and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Outreach Planning and Coordination
- Assist in developing outreach strategies to engage the community
- Collaborate with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organizational goals
- Support the execution of outreach initiatives, including occasional weekend activities
- Represent the organisation at outreach events
2. Content Development and Communications
- Develop and deploy engaging outreach and publicity materials
- Assist in writing articles for the website/newsletter/magazine
3. Research and Administration
- Conduct research on target demographics, community needs, and engagement opportunities to inform outreach strategies
- Maintain outreach databases and track outreach activities and outcomes
- Provide administrative support for outreach programs and events
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
1. To be exposed to the development and coordination of outreach strategies aimed at engaging diverse communities in conservation efforts
2. To be able to support the planning and execution of outreach initiatives, including representing the organisation at events and activities
3. To apply communication and content development skills in creating outreach materials, articles, and publicity content across platforms
4. To participate in cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to ensure outreach efforts align with organisational goals
5. To learn how to conduct research on target audiences, community needs, and engagement opportunities to inform effective outreach strategies
6. To gain knowledge in tracking outreach outcomes, maintaining databases, and providing administrative support for outreach programmes and initiatives
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google suite, Canva, and social media platforms
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
- Demonstrates a positive and proactive attitude
- Passion for community engagement and making a positive impact
- Able to support outreach events on occasional weekends
