Organisation Overview: Woodlands Social Centre (WSC) is a social service agency located in Woodlands and seeks to provide person-centred services for disadvantaged families with young children (e.g. low-income, families with parental incarceration etc), empowering individual members, strengthening family bonds, and building a collaborative network of support within the community itself.
Brief Description: The Media and Communication Intern will support the development and execution of communication strategies to raise awareness of programmes for families with young children-in-need. The intern will assist in content creation, social media management, events management, and storytelling, while contributing to outreach efforts that engage the community and amplify the agency’s impact.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in developing and executing communication strategies (social media platforms, webpage, collaterals etc)
2. Create and curate content for social media and digital platforms
3. Support storytelling efforts to highlight programmes and impact
4. Assist in managing social media accounts and engagement
5. Contribute to outreach and awareness campaigns and events
6. Support documentation of events and programme activities
7. Collaborate with team members on communication initiatives
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
1. To be exposed to working with children and families-in-need directly or indirectly through programme sessions and events
2. To apply knowledge learnt in community service/charity setting through curating appropriate and relevant content that are appealing to general public
3. To participate in organisational events and be given platforms to plan and curate content that will outreach to the public
4. To gain knowledge in understanding the challenges and difficulties faced by children and families-in-need and to curate stories that are impactful for the general public
5. To be given opportunities to formulate strategies in working with corporate partners, donors and stakeholders
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon - Fri (8.30am - 5.30pm), occasionally on Saturdays for events and programmes (OIL given)
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
