Organisation Overview: NTUC Health Co-operative Limited (NTUC Health) is an NTUC enterprise that provides a comprehensive and integrated suite of quality and accessible health and elderly care services to meet the growing needs of families and their dependents. NTUC Health is among the largest senior day care, nursing home, and home personal care providers in Singapore. We also offer other services for seniors such as active ageing centres, community support for vulnerable seniors, and a sheltered senior group home.

Brief Description: A Therapy Intern supports therapists in delivering rehabilitation and engagement programs for elderly residents in a nursing home. You will assist in therapy sessions, promote residents’ functional independence, and facilitate meaningful activities while gaining hands-on exposure to geriatric care, rehabilitation principles, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in therapy sessions and support residents in exercises, mobility, and activities

  2. Prepare equipment and ensure a safe, clean therapy environment

  3. Support residents in basic daily activities (ADLs) and encourage independence

  4. Facilitate simple group activities and engagement programs

  5. Observe, report participation, and assist with basic documentation

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  1. To learn about common elderly conditions and their impact on function and behaviour

  2. To be able to assist in basic therapy activities and support residents’ functional tasks under supervision

  3. To gain knowledge in safe handling techniques, infection control, and professional workplace practices

  4. To apply basic rehabilitation principles in facilitating activities and encouraging participation

  5. To learn how to communicate effectively and engage residents, including those with cognitive impairment

Duration of Internship: 6 months

Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 8.30am - 6.00pm
