Organisation Overview: ActSEA is a regional non-profit organisation that contributes to an equitable and sustainable Southeast Asia by nurturing leaders who are empowered to effect change and amplify impact. Section-agnostic, our path is driven by the aspiration and needs of the communities we work with. Also active in Indonesia and the Philippines, our priorities in Singapore include poverty alleviation, disability and inclusion, climate change, board game design, research, and shared services.
Brief Description: The intern will gain experience in staff and volunteer recruitment and engagement within the non-profit sector in Singapore and the region, with an emphasis on cultivating a supportive organisational culture with a growth mindset. By building essential competencies in HR and organisational psychology and essential workplace skills, interns will build a strong foundation for careers related to HR, people management, and stakeholder engagement.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end volunteer and intern recruitment cycle, including drafting openings, conducting interviews and onboarding new team members.
Foster a supportive organisational culture by monitoring staff and volunteer well-being, conducting mental health check-ins, and planning team building initiatives.
Develop and plan volunteer engagement activities, including regular virtual huddles and volunteer newsletters.
Support professional development by facilitating daily team check-ins and weekly reflection sessions.
Develop and strengthen HR processes and policies to reflect ActSEA’s mission and values.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to human resources management in a regional nonprofit organisation.
To gain knowledge of social and environmental issues across the Southeast Asia region.
To be able to apply essential workplace skills, including independent learning, time management, curiosity, adaptability, and communication.
To develop confidence in the workplace.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Flexible - weekend work may be required depending on operational needs
