Organisation Overview: Yellow Ribbon Singapore (YRSG), formerly known as the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE), is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It supports the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders into society by providing skills training, employment assistance, and advocating for community acceptance, often represented by the iconic yellow ribbon symbol.
Brief Description: Support the Yellow Ribbon Project team in delivering events and outreach initiatives championing the rehabilitation of ex-offenders. You will assist in event planning, logistics, and on-ground execution, contribute to advocacy outreach to raise public awareness, and handle data management tasks including maintaining databases and compiling reports. Gain hands-on experience in event management and social advocacy within a meaningful public sector initiative.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in the end-to-end planning and coordination of Yellow Ribbon Project events and engagements
Support on-ground event execution, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for all participants
Contribute to advocacy outreach efforts by helping to develop and disseminate materials that promote public awareness of rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders.
Engage with community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to support outreach activities
Maintain and update databases, ensuring accurate and organised records of event participants, partners, and outreach activities
Compile and analyse data to generate reports that support the team's planning, monitoring, and evaluation needs
Provide general administrative support to the team as required
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
Gain hands-on experience in end-to-end event planning and management, from conceptualisation through to post-event evaluation
Develop practical skills in stakeholder and vendor coordination, learning how to manage relationships and communications in a professional setting
Build an understanding of social advocacy and community outreach, particularly in the context of rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders in Singapore
Acquire data management skills, including maintaining databases, tracking records, and producing meaningful reports to inform decision-making
Strengthen organisational and project management abilities by working within a structured team environment on real-world initiatives
Develop an appreciation for the social mission behind the Yellow Ribbon Project and the broader landscape of social service and public sector work in Singapore
By the end of the internship, the intern is expected to be able to independently support event logistics, contribute meaningfully to outreach efforts, and manage data accurately and efficiently. The intern will also leave with a deeper understanding of how advocacy and community engagement can drive positive social change.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours:
Mon-Thu, 9.00am - 6.30pm
Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
