Organisation Overview: Nature Society Singapore is a non-profit, non-government organisation that inspires and enables people to take action towards a sustainable and biodiverse planet through engagement, education, advocacy and research. For more than 70 years, we remain steadfast in our goal to conserve biodiversity and habitats by reconnecting people to nature, restoring habitats and conserving remaining blue and green spaces in partnership with government agencies, corporates, other NGOs and the wider community.
Brief Description: The Event Management Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of NSS events, including community outreach, corporate CSR activities, volunteer programmes, fundraising initiatives, and nature education events. The intern will gain hands-on experience in event logistics, stakeholder engagement, communications, and sustainability-focused event design.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Event Planning & Coordination
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and logistics of NSS events (e.g. nature walks, conservation talks, volunteer CSR events, biodiversity festivals)
- Support venue booking, permit applications, and liaising with vendors and partners
- Help develop event run sheets, checklists, and budgets
2. Communications & Promotion
- Draft publicity materials, social media posts, and eDMs to promote events
- Coordinate with the Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and branding
- Manage event registrations and participant communication
3. On-site Event Support
- Assist in event set-up, registration, and coordination of volunteers and participants
- Ensure smooth event flow and troubleshoot logistical issues on the ground
- Collect photographs, feedback, and attendance data
4. Post-event Reporting & Documentation
- Help prepare post-event reports, photograph libraries, and impact summaries
- Track attendance, participant feedback, and environmental sustainability metrics (e.g. waste reduction, carbon offset efforts)
5. Partnership & Stakeholder Support
- Support coordination with corporate partners for CSR collaborations
- Assist in preparing proposals, thank-you letters, and donor/partner updates
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
1. To be exposed to the planning and coordination of conservation-related events, including nature walks, talks, and community engagement programmes
2. To be able to support event logistics, including scheduling, registration management, and coordination with vendors and partners
3. To apply communication skills in drafting publicity materials and participant communications aligned with organisational messaging
4. To participate in on-site event operations, including set-up, volunteer coordination, and real-time problem-solving
5. To learn how to compile post-event reports, analyse participant feedback, and assess engagement and sustainability metrics
6. To gain knowledge in stakeholder engagement, including working with corporate partners, donors, and community groups for conservation initiatives
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Mandatory
- Background in Environmental Studies, Communications, Event Management, Business, or related field
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Interest in environmental conservation and sustainability
- Able to work some weekends for events
- Proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace; familiarity with Canva or social media scheduling tools is a plus
