Organisation Overview: Singapore Children’s Society protects and nurtures children and youth of all races and religions. In 2025, the Society reached out to 22,333 children, youth and families in need. Established in 1952, its services have evolved to meet the changing needs of children.
Today, Children’s Society operates more than 10 service centres islandwide, offering services in the four categories of: Vulnerable Children and Youth, Children and Youth Services, Family Services, and Research and Advocacy.
Brief Description: The Corporate Communications Intern supports day-to-day communications and media relations efforts by assisting with content creation for digital and print platforms, monitoring media and brand presence, and ensuring consistent messaging. The role also provides support for media materials, events, and outreach activities, while contributing ideas to enhance engagement and brand awareness. This position offers hands-on exposure to strategic communications in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Communications
Support the creation of content for various communication channels, including internal and external newsletters, social media platforms, Society’s website and annual report.
Assist in tracking and monitoring the brand’s presence across traditional and social media.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency in brand messaging across all platforms.
Contribute creative ideas for campaigns and initiatives that enhance user engagement and brand awareness.
Support the vetting of internal and external collaterals for grammar, clarity and brand consistency.
Media Relations
Assist in the development and production of media materials (e.g., press releases, media kits, statements).
Provide administrative and logistics support for media engagement at events.
Attend and help facilitate media interviews or photoshoots when required.
Assist in daily monitoring of local mainstream and digital news platforms for articles relevant to the Society’s work.
Analyse trends in media articles and coverage to inform future communication efforts and identify opportunities for engagement.
Support the team in generating media pitch ideas.
Work closely with members of the Strategic Communications & Outreach team to ensure alignment of communication goals.
Ad-Hoc Duties:
Support the digitisation and systematic organisation of archives, including heritage materials, photographs and related resources. Assist day-to-day management of the digital and video archive
Assist in carrying out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Individual Skills
Currently pursuing a diploma in Communications, Public Relations, or related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Creative thinking and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Possess basic knowledge in analytics and reporting
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to corporate and strategic communications practices across internal communications, digital platforms, and media relations.
To be able to develop, edit, and vet content for newsletters, social media, websites, and media materials with clear and consistent brand messaging.
To apply communication and analytical skills in monitoring media coverage, tracking brand presence, and analysing trends to support outreach efforts.
To participate in media engagement activities, including events, interviews, photoshoots, and the preparation of press materials and media pitches.
To learn how to coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders and manage multiple communication tasks in a fast-paced environment.
To gain knowledge in basic analytics, reporting, and the digitisation and management of communication archives and multimedia resources.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 8.30am – 5.30pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
