Organisation Overview: We’re BirdLife International, the only global Partnership conserving birds and all life on our planet.
We’re made up of over 120 worldwide conservation organisations and a Global Team with an Asia regional headquarters in Singapore.
We work side by side, tackling some of the natural world’s most pressing issues.
As the global authority on birds, we carry out conservation rooted in regional knowledge, working alongside Indigenous Peoples and local communities to create sustainable change.
Brief Description: We’re looking for a Communications Intern to write copy for outreach materials. We are seeking someone who wants to learn by doing, is excited to contribute fresh perspectives, and will help us connect with supporters in Asia in meaningful ways.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Write compelling copy for communications materials with an eye to Asia-based supporters.
Collaborate with the design teams to develop creative concepts that resonate emotionally and drive action.
Brainstorm graphics that illustrate the concepts in the copy.
Learn and apply BirdLife’s brand guidelines, tone, and messaging to designs.
Edit and refine messaging to ensure alignment with our brand voice.
Research the trends of nature loving supporters in Asia, and storytelling techniques that strengthen our propositions to them.
Write feature articles highlighting birds, conservation projects, or regional initiatives for our magazine, newsletter or website.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To gain hands-on experience in supporter communications and copywriting.
To receive mentorship from a creative team skilled in impact storytelling.
To have opportunities to pitch ideas and see them come to life in campaigns.
To complete a portfolio of work that demonstrates your ability to inspire action.
To learn about writing within the parameters of a corporate brand verbal identity.
To become familiar with design software and learn how to make compelling content.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon- Fri, 10.00am - 6.00pm
Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
Requirements (if any):
Strong writing skills with a knack for emotional resonance.
Interest in outreach communications, social impact, international relations or nonprofit communications.
Some coursework on ecology or conservation.
Willing to learn Canva or other design tools.
Currently studying or graduate of Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism or a related field.
