Organisation Overview: New Life Stories is a social service agency that supports children and families affected by parental incarceration, with the mission of breaking the intergenerational cycle of incarceration through strong relationships, child resilience, and community support.

NLS serves children aged 0–17 and their caregivers, especially mothers who are or have been incarcerated. Its programmes focus on creating safe, stable, and nurturing environments that support children’s development and well-being.

Brief Description: This internship focuses on documenting programme activities and tracking Befriender satisfaction through video and visual content. You will play a key role in capturing meaningful stories and providing insights that help improve our programmes. In addition, you will transform current manuals and guides into visually appealing, easy-to-read formats to enhance understanding and engagement for volunteers and participants.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Record and edit videos of Learning Journeys, home visits, and other programme activities

  2. Conduct short video interviews with Befrienders and participants to capture feedback and satisfaction

  3. Produce visual summaries or reports that clearly communicate programme outcomes

  4. Transform current manuals, guides, and learning materials into visually appealing and easy- read formats

  5. Collaborate with the team to ensure documentation accurately reflects programme activities and impact

  6. Assist in improving the presentation and accessibility of programme content for volunteers and participants

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  1. To be exposed to how a social impact programme and volunteer engagement works

  2. To be able to record videos and take photos of programme activities

  3. To apply communication skills when interviewing Befrienders and participants

  4. To participate in making manuals and guides easy to read and visually appealing

  5. To learn how to share programme insights clearly using videos and visuals

Duration of Internship: 6 months

Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 10.00am - 6.00pm

Will this internship require weekend work?: Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
