Brief Description: As a Software Development and Business Intern, you will assist our engineers with software design, coding, debugging, and testing. You will also support business operations including requirements gathering, project management, and content creation. This is an exciting opportunity to gain real world experience at a high-growth technology company.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Software Development Responsibilities:
Participate in software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing
Troubleshoot bugs and issues with existing software applications
Assist with gathering requirements for new software projects
Perform testing on web and mobile applications
Business Operations Responsibilities:
Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers
Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
Build page navigation buttons and search fields
Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to software design, coding, debugging and testing processes in a high-growth startup environment.
To apply understanding of software development and business operations to assist with UI/UX design, gathering requirements, testing, and troubleshooting.
To participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to launch and learn how a tech startup executes on product ideas.
To gain knowledge in startup communities, business analysis, and project management through supporting business operations responsibilities.
To be able to take initiative, communicate effectively, and problem-solve issues related to software applications and business requirements.
Exposure to Seniors
Interns will gain first-hand exposure to the needs of elderly users and the role of technology in serving this community:
Learn about physical, social, and cognitive needs of seniors through research and direct outreach
Understand user challenges through interviews with elderly residents
Test interface designs and hardware with senior volunteers
Develop an app prototype for connecting seniors to health services
Create guides to using everyday technology tailored for elderly users
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 9.00am - 5.30pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
