Programs Intern (Action for Change in Southeast Asia Limited)

Organisation Overview: ActSEA contributes to an equitable and sustainable Southeast Asia by nurturing leaders who are empowered to effect change and amplify impact. Also active in Indonesia and the Philippines, ActSEA’s path is driven by the aspirations and needs of the communities we work with, including public health, education, gender, and disaster response. In Singapore, we focus on capacity building, behaviour change, and game design to address inequality, disability and inclusion, and environmental issues.

Brief Description: As an intern in the Programs team, you play a key role in the planning, implementation, and scaling of social and environmental projects run by ActSEA and our partners in Singapore and the region. Your role includes planning, implementing, and evaluating projects through project management, research, and communication support.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Carry out desk research on social and environmental issues in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the region

2. Design and plan initiatives, including objectives (theory of change), action plans, and materials

3. Support implementation, including conducting project activities, as well as recruiting and engaging with participants, volunteers, and partners

4. Evaluate project results by designing frameworks and tools, collecting and analysing data, as well as preparing reports and presentations

5. Provide general project management support, including monitoring timelines, maintaining organised records, scheduling meetings, and managing correspondence

6. Map, develop, and streamline processes and policies to increase the impact, effectiveness, and efficiency of ActSEA’s projects

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

1. To apply project management, research, and communication skills in nonprofit and volunteer-driven organisations

2. To gain knowledge in the types of social and environmental initiatives in Singapore and the region

3. To be exposed to social issues and working styles across different cultures in the Southeast Asia region

4. To be able to manage your tasks and time, problem-solve, as well as communicate independently and effectively

5. To learn how to be more confident and proactive in the workplace

Duration of Internship: 6 months

Daily Working Hours: 9.00am - 6.00pm

Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)

2. Proactive and willing to learn, with a positive attitude towards feedback and development

3. Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
