Brief Description: Intern will design, implement, and evaluate engagement activities for bed-bound residents, enhancing their well-being. Responsibilities include needs assessment, activity planning, volunteer recruitment/training, program execution, and outcome reporting. The role offers hands-on experience in person-centered care, senior engagement, and program evaluation, culminating in a final presentation to the Centre Director.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct an initial needs analysis through conversations with residents (where possible), nursing staff, and caregivers to understand individual preferences, needs, and capabilities.
Adopt evidence-based approach to develop and curate a series of engagement activities suitable for bed-bound individuals—this may include sensory play, music and movement, narrative therapy, adapted crafts, and one-on-one interactions.
Define desired outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of implemented programmes and activities
Recruit volunteers to assist in implementing the activities and facilitate introductory training sessions to prepare them for working with bed-bound residents.
Coordinate and supervise pilot sessions to test selected activities, ensuring smooth logistics and volunteer support.
Collect feedback from all stakeholders—residents, staff, volunteers, and families—to evaluate the effectiveness and emotional impact of the programs.
Keep clear and concise records of each session, including attendance, activities conducted, notable observations, and areas for improvement.
At the end of the internship, prepare and deliver a formal presentation of outcomes, challenges faced, key insights, and recommendations for long-term sustainability of the programs to the Centre Director.

Outcome: Learn how to recruit, train, and support volunteers, gaining insight into the coordination and teamwork needed to successfully run community care initiatives.To apply principles of outcome evaluation
Outcome: Understand how to define program goals, measure effectiveness, and use feedback to refine and improve engagement activities.To improve professional and presentation skills
Outcome: Develop skills in documentation, report writing, and delivering clear, organized presentations to stakeholders, with a focus on summarizing project outcomes and proposing sustainable solutions.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 8.30am - 6.00pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
