Organisation Overview: RiverLife Community Services (RCS) is a non-profit organization located in the Northern Eastern part of Singapore. It is registered with the National Council of Social Services (NCSS) and is recognized as an institution of Public Character (IPC). RCS is also a Family Life Ambassador (FLA) of MSF. RCS provides age-appropriate curriculums for our children, youth and family programmes. We seek to empower low-income families with young children to thrive and build stronger communities in Singapore.
Brief Description: This position allows interns to gain exposure and experience in working with low-income families, children and youths. The intern is responsible for working closely with the staff to plan, organize and implement programmes and activities for low-income families, manage volunteers and conduct evaluation and needs assessment to enhance and measure the effectiveness of programme in supporting the community.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist staff in administrative, planning of programme curriculum, sessions and events
Assist staff in executing the character development sessions, sessions and/ or workshops
Assist staff in volunteer management and training needs
Facilitate and lead sessions for programme on a needs-basis
Planning and executing of adhoc events such as holiday programmes, graduation
Conduct and consolidate evaluation for the enhancement of programme needs
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to working with low-income families and children in the Social Services Sector through opportunities provided in clinical and programme settings
To be able to experience execution and facilitation of programmes through supporting children, youths and family workshops/ sessions
To apply learnt social work knowledge through observation, planning and execution of the programmes
To learn how to plan age-appropriate curriculum and engage with clients of different age group through trainings and supervision
To gain knowledge in working with low-income families and clients of different ages through exposure and shadowing staff
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 9.00am - 6.00pm (Mon - Fri), 9.00am - 1.00pm (Sat)
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 1 to 2 Saturday morning a month
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
