Organisation Overview: ActSEA contributes to an equitable and sustainable Southeast Asia by nurturing leaders who are empowered to effect change and amplify impact. Also active in Indonesia and the Philippines, ActSEA’s path is driven by the aspirations and needs of the communities we work with, including public health, education, gender, and disaster response. In Singapore, we focus on capacity building, behaviour change, and game design to address inequality, disability and inclusion, and environmental issues.
Brief Description: As an intern in the Human Resources team, you play a key role in attracting, developing, and engaging individuals who align with ActSEA’s values while fostering a positive work environment to enable team members to contribute effectively to the implementation and scaling of our projects. Your role includes recruiting and onboarding staff, interns, and volunteers, implementing professional development initiatives, and organising activities to engage staff and volunteers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work closely with team leads to draft and publish openings on recruitment platforms for staff, interns, and volunteers
Monitor and follow up on applications, including arranging and conducting interviews, preparing contracts, and onboarding incoming members
Collaborate with team leads to review and update the status of volunteers, re-engaging or offboarding them as necessary
Support the growth of team members by planning and implementing professional development initiatives
Coordinate with staff to plan and carry out organisation-wide engagement activities, including staff check-ins and bonding sessions, volunteer newsletters, and volunteer huddles
Send and analyse information from mental health check-in messages
Streamline HR processes and develop policies to improve efficiency and build culture

To apply skills in human resources management in nonprofit and volunteer-driven organisations
To gain knowledge in the types of social and environmental initiatives in Singapore and the region
To be exposed to social issues and working styles across different cultures in the Southeast Asia region
To be able to manage your tasks and time, problem-solve, as well as communicate independently and effectively
To learn how to be more confident and proactive in the workplace.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 9.00am - 6.00pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
Requirements (if any):
Work well with others and have effective written and verbal communication skills
Proactive and willing to learn, with a positive attitude towards feedback and development
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
