Organisation Overview: Formerly known as Bukit Ho Swee Family Service Centre, South Central Community Family Service Centre (SCC) provides support to the low-income and vulnerable families in our community. While giving support to families who seek help in financial, social or relationship issues, we encourage community self-help and cooperation.
Brief Description: KeyStart Home Ownership Programme supports families with school-going children in rental communities who aspire to own homes. By offering financial grants, housing case work, and transitional support, the programme aims to provide families with stable and conducive housing—transforming their lives and creating better environments for their children’s growth and development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct outreach and engage families who may benefit from KeyStart’s support
Build rapport and follow up with families through home visits and supervised housing case work
Assist in planning and implementing the KeyStart programme, including data management and administrative support
Prepare grant calculations and coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders
Advocate for families to government agencies or via internal KeyStart grants
Support research, evaluation, and advocacy efforts on housing inequality and related issues in Singapore
Assist with event management and updating of programme collaterals as assigned
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to working directly with low-income families and understanding their housing challenges
To be able to build trusting relationships and communicate empathetically with families during home visits and follow-ups
To apply case work skills and administrative knowledge in supporting families’ journey towards stable housing
To participate in cross-sector collaboration with community and government partners
To learn how to manage programme documentation, coordinate meetings, and support with grant-related processes
To gain knowledge in housing inequality issues and contribute to research and advocacy efforts
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 10.00am - 6.30pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
Requirements (if any):
Passionate about service, community building, and fostering relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Highly detail-oriented and well-organized, with strong operational and administrative skills
Strong written communication skills; comfortable with minute-taking and report writing
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in data entry and basic data analysis
Confident in presenting to diverse stakeholders and engaging in community outreach
No prior formal experience required; volunteering or experience in human services is a bonus
