Organisation Overview: New Hope Community Services (New Hope CS) is a social service agency working to bring change into the lives of the displaced and disadvantaged in the community. We are a full member of the National Council of Social Service since 2005 and have been granted Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) status until 2026.
Brief Description: To support the vibrant daily operations of a lifeskills training and retreat facility. To be part of a dynamic team that coordinates events, manages hospitality logistics, and maintains the space. To gain hands-on experience in guest services, project coordination, and sustainability practices in a purpose-driven, community-focused environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in coordinating facility-related projects and maintenance tasks
Provide technical and logistical support for events and daily operations
Support volunteer management by assisting with scheduling and communications
Help prepare and reset spaces for workshops, retreats, and community programs
Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and assist in procurement tasks
Conduct routine facility checks and report maintenance or safety issues
Liaise with vendors and contractors for repairs and service appointments
Assist in tracking project timelines and maintaining documentation
Contribute to hospitality by welcoming guests, handling check-ins and check-outs, and ensuring space readiness
Support implementation of eco-friendly and sustainability practices on-site
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to the daily operations of a lifeskills training and retreat facility, gaining insight into its dynamic environment
To be able to support event and hospitality logistics, handling real-world tasks and ensuring smooth operations for guests and activities
To apply project coordination and technical support skills in managing facility-related projects, enhancing organizational and problem-solving abilities
To participate in cross-functional teamwork, collaborating with staff, volunteers, and vendors to ensure seamless facility management
To learn how to conduct facility inspections, identify maintenance needs, and ensure the facility is well-maintained and safe for all users
To gain knowledge in sustainable facility practices and exceptional guest service management, contributing to a positive impact on the environment and guest experience
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 9.00am - 6.00pm (Mon - Fri), 9.00am - 1.00pm (Sat)
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
Requirements (if any):
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or project management tools (training provided)
Strong communication and organizational skills, with opportunities to develop them further
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Interest in facility management, with hands-on learning opportunities
