Organisation Overview: Glyph Community is a Singapore-registered IPC charity dedicated to advancing opportunities for underprivileged children and youth. Through structured weekend programmes based on our IPO framework and five pillars (Sports, Arts, Science & Tech, Life Skills, and Field Trips), we provide holistic development for our beneficiaries. We also offer after-school academic support to bridge learning gaps and ensure every child has access to quality education.
Brief Description: Join our children's charity as a Community Outreach Intern! Support children in need by running weekend classes with teachers, organizing events, engaging communities, and boosting our mission through social media. Gain hands-on experience, grow your communication and teamwork skills, and make a real impact.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Recruiting new beneficiaries (community visits, calls)
Engaging beneficiaries (paid activities, registration renewals)
Activity Facilitator on days with activities
Preparing and executing activities
Cleaning up the centre & organising inventory
Student administration & customer service (managing attendance and post-activity feedback sheets, answering queries, resolving complaints)
Managing volunteers during activities (giving instructions, briefing & debriefing)
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to real-world community engagement through outreach efforts such as house visits and recruitment calls
To be able to support and facilitate meaningful activities for children, including preparation, execution, and post-activity clean-up
To apply communication and interpersonal skills in handling beneficiary registration, customer service, and resolving concerns
To participate in coordinating volunteer teams by leading briefings, giving clear instructions, and conducting debriefs
To learn how to manage student administration tasks such as tracking attendance and collecting feedback effectively
To gain knowledge in organising centre operations, including inventory maintenance and ensuring a conducive learning environment
Duration of Internship: 5 months
Daily Working Hours: 9.30am - 6.00pm
Work Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
Requirements (if any):
Passionate about the education and social work industry
Comfortable speaking to families via calls and Whatsapp
Workdays are Wednesday - Sunday, offdays on Monday – Tuesday
Working schedule:
Wednesday - Friday: Work from home
Saturday - Sunday: Teaching duty at Boon Lay / Marsiling
