Organisation Overview: St Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC) is a Christian healthcare provider committed to meeting the evolving needs of the community, excelling in social care and clinical excellence for ageing well. Our ecosystem of care comprises centre, community, residential and home-based services. We operate 18 Senior Care and Rehabilitation Centres, 12 Active Ageing Centres (Care) and 2 Residences (nursing homes), serving mainly older persons regardless of race, language and religion.
Brief Description: As a Community Care Associate Intern, you will assist to keep the living environment tidy and clean. You will provide direct personal care to elders and assist them with tasks when needed in line with our philosophy of care.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct daily visual check on the clients’ health conditions and wellbeing
To plan and conduct activities for the elderly
To assist the Care staff in various duties they are doing like serving food, transferring and engaging the elders
Assist in triaging of elders and Health Declaration for visitors
To update daily activities log including basic documentation pertaining to the elders
To assist with some of the activities of daily living (ADLs) for the elderly (e.g. feeding, etc)
Receive clients upon their arrival at the centre and during the departure sent-off to the waiting vehicle
To be part of the escort team in the van when assigned
To ensure cleanliness of the centre and wiping down of the centre for infection control
Perform other duties as assigned
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To assist elderly in basic activities of daily living (BADL), including assistance with personal hygiene and transfers
To monitor health status of clients and escalate to Supervisor or Manager when required
To plan and conduct activities suitable for seniors taking into consideration their preferences and interests
To ensure environmental safety and hygiene of the centre, including carrying out the necessary cleaning and disinfection along with looking out for hazards
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 8.30am - 6.00pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Minimum Qualification: Polytechnic diploma (Current Polytechnic students are welcome as well)
Requirements (if any):
Will be assigned to one of St Luke’s ElderCare Centre
Working hours may varies with different centres
Good Communication Skills
Good Team Player
IT Literacy Skills
Able to communicate and work with elders
