Organisation Overview: Life Community Services Society seeks to affirm, nurture, and develop the intrinsic value of the individual to the fullest potential, and inculcate love and develop respect within the family, LCSS focuses on social and community work like mentoring children, youths and families, and the provision of before and after-school care. We also partner with like-minded social service agencies to provide effective care for the less advantaged children and their families.
Brief Description: Join us in advocating and championing child mentoring in Singapore and beyond. Help be the voice of children and youths impacted by parental incarceration and mentor them to be the best that they can be. You will be mentored by experienced caseworkers and social workers in the field of casework management and gain first-hand knowledge and experience with children impacted by parental incarceration.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Mentor children and youths aged 6 to 16
Support with case management tasks; including organising client files and documentation
Support and conduct group work/activity-based sessions
Communicate with clients via phone, email or in-person meetings to provide support and gather information
Support the casework team in administrative tasks such as updating records
Support volunteers such as mentors and tutors as and when needed
Support lead caseworkers or social workers in research and evaluation with the children and caregivers on the effectiveness of the programme
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions with clients and colleagues

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To develop empathy and compassion for children and youths impacted by parental incarceration and deeply understand their need
To gain practical knowledge and skills in case management, assessment and intervention planning
To learn how to effectively engage and mentor children and youths
To improve problem-solving skills by identifying and addressing the needs and challenges faced by clients in a timely and effective manner
To enhance knowledge of community resources and support services available to assist clients in achieving their goals
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 9.00am - 6.00pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Minimum Qualification: No minimum education (i.e. A-level Graduates, Current Polytechnic students are welcome)
Requirements (if any):
Passion for children and youths from vulnerable families
Good communication skills to collaborate with teammates, children, caregivers and volunteers
A spirit of camaraderie while working as a team
Leadership and enthusiasm to guide children in both indoor and outdoor activities
Willingness to learn and apply acquired skills in your daily work
Willingness to travel for home visitations
Pursuing or possesses a Diploma in social work or a related field (preferable, though not required)
