Organisation Overview: Empact is a social enterprise with a social mission to build the capacity of social organisations here and the region. We serve as an intermediary to our corporate partners where we match and manage their resources, expertise and skilled volunteers with the real needs in the social sector. Much of the matching in most cases requires us to design and develop customised activities or programs for a meaningful exchange or partnership between corporates and social organisations.
Brief Description: The Intern will be working together with our Client Service Managers and Executives to provide bookkeeping and finance services to our clients. The work requires a high level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility. A positive attitude, eagerness to learn and ability to work in a team are essential qualities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist with bookkeeping and preparing month-end financial reports
Assist with audit queries
Assist with payroll preparation/cashier duties
Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
Support volunteers with accounting/client-related queries
Be present at and assist with company events, as well as work with internal teams, corporate partners and community partners in providing on-the-ground support for CSR/community engagement activities.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
To be exposed to the social sector: types of social organisations, key stakeholders, key needs and challenges of social organisations, resources and solutions
To be exposed to the community: its members, concerns, issues and available support for groups including PWDs, Special Needs, vulnerable seniors etc.
To apply accounting knowledge to practice
To learn a whole range of accounting and accounting-related tasks from Empact's product and service set
To be exposed to and learn to use accounting software
To participate in cross-team collaboration such as software innovation in the process, understand social organisations' operational needs and the use of technology and digital solutions to help build capacity.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: 10.00 am - 7.00 pm
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Minimum Qualification: Polytechnic diploma or professional qualifications
Requirements (if any): Min. Poly Year 2 and above
